The origin of the Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom Pon dates back to 1984 and was the result of a recessive gene that caused the size of the offspring of the lords of the Yorkshire Terrier Gertrud and Werner Biewer.
The father and the mother of the first recognized Biewer were "Darling of Friedheck" and "Frufru of Friedheck.
Spouses Biewer knew immediately that this little dog with its white spots was incredibly attractive and that was how began the process of selective breeding to generate others. Mr. and Mrs. Biewer named these little dogs "Biewer Yorskshire a la Pom Pon".
The first German Biewer Yorkshire club was founded May 24, 2003. However, the public had recognized as a breed, even if not officially, well before this date.
